Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Having started my academic journey in premed before discovering my true passion in communications and public relations at Temple University, I’ve learned the importance of staying open to change and following where your strengths lead you. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned—thanks in part to the mentorship of Lisa Blackshear, Senior Vice President at Comcast—is the power of understanding your audience and tailoring your message with intention and clarity. To young women entering this field: be patient with your growth, and don’t shy away from extra responsibilities. Raise your hand. Say yes to new opportunities—even if they stretch you—because that’s where confidence and capability are built. Find mentors who challenge and support you, and make it a priority to invest in others along the way. My work with Comcast’s veterans network and recognition through our internal QC2 Success mentorship award have reinforced just how meaningful it is to contribute to a culture of growth, learning, and inclusion.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Louise, a One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in employee communications today is navigating the evolving nature of work. As someone who’s spent 15 years in communications across industries, from consumer goods at Campbell’s Soup to now leading employee communications at Comcast NBCUniversal, I’ve seen firsthand how the role of internal communications has grown in both complexity and impact. The shift to hybrid and remote work models has transformed how we engage employees. During the pandemic, helping lead the transition of Comcast’s workforce to remote operations was a pivotal moment—it underscored how vital clear, timely, and empathetic communication is to business continuity and employee well-being. At the same time, it opened the door to rethinking how we connect with people—digitally, visually, and more humanly. Storytelling remains at the heart of what we do. My background, influenced by a family of writers and my own passion for making complex topics simple and educational, continues to drive how I approach communication strategies today. The opportunity now is to move beyond just informing employees to truly inspiring and aligning them—especially in large, diverse organizations. It's a space where innovation and empathy must work hand in hand.
